Featuring Illinois,Nebraska,Iowa & Kansas

This Play was written by Fax Gilbert as a lively, humorous, account of selected scenes from your states history. Students will portray your states Pre-History, Native Americans, frontier life, foreign occupations, Civil War, immigration and transportation, and early schools through narration, mime, movement and dance. The play comes with over 100 costumes and props and music from each period.

Students learn and re-create in full costume:

• Native American Life

• Pioneer Living (yes they had dances!)

• The Underground Railroad

• Civil War

• Immigrant Migration

• Early Schools (yes, they had corporal punishment!)

• Students and teachers learn about your state's history while having the time of their lives

• Students learn to perform four lively scenes in costume for the entire school

• Schools usually choose the grade that studies state history

• An ideal supplement / fulfillment to your school's studies curriculum

Fax Gilbert's original The Great Illinois History Play, was a delightful, entertaining and educational event at Edison School. The student participants and the audience will certainly remember the major historical events in our state's history after "living" through the experiences as a slave, pioneer, soldier and school teacher.
Maura Zinni, Principal, Edison Elementary, Morton Grove, (Skokie District 69)

“I just want to thank you all for the best assembly I've ever been to! It was educational and fun. At first, when I heard that we were having a history play during the last week of school, I was hoping that I didn't have to go.
I am SOOOO glad that our class went - I laughed throughout and was pleasantly surprised! You would have thought that everyone practiced for weeks. Just goes to show you what the kids are really capable of when they want to do something and they have awesome teachers at the helm! “
GREAT JOB! Thanks for the GREAT educational entertainment.
3rd Grade Teacher, Ardmore School, Villa Park, Ill

“Pioneer Elementary School continues to request assemblies performed by Fax Gilbert for our students in K-5. Students and staff find his spirited educational programs not only enriching, fitting perfectly within our District curriculum, but he makes this learning engaging, creative and fun! Fax’s programs involve his students, gently guiding students to use their creativity and critical thinking skills! The students may not always remember what they learned from a social studies book, but they will always remember the lessons they learned from Fax’s Character Education assemblies and One-Day State History Plays!"
Donna Hayley, Principal, Valley View School Dist. 365U, Pioneer Elem. School, Bolingbrook Ill

“This program, by far, is the best our school has had! The participating fourth graders are the oldest students in our school, the audience, (K-3) were spellbound by the performance. Parents swarmed us after the performance to tell us how wonderful the program was. After school, teachers told us how their students loved the program and were relating historical facts they’d gleaned from the performance."
Pamela Wade, Fourth grade teacher, Poplar Grove Elementary school, Poplar Grove, Ill.
